He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Edith and his brother-in-law, Mark Carlson. Daughters Kari Anderson (Sean) Jaclyn (Santiago O’Connor), and Jessica Lewis (Daniel), grandkids (Kate and Lars Anderson, Nicholas, Scott and Kyle Lewis), sister Nancy Day (Carl), brothers in-law, Gene and Paul Carlson and Carl Day, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kristin (Carlson). He is remembered for his humility, generosity, integrity, strength, warmth, and love. He recently retired after a successful career in real estate. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, skiing and traveling. After several years working in the Twin Cities, Doug and Kriss moved the family to Duluth. He passed away peacefully Sunday, October 15th, 2023 at Aspen Acres Memory Care and Assisted Living. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 1970, traded to the Minnesota Vikings the following year, playing there until finishing his NFL career in 1982 with the Seahawks. Roy (BUNK) Kofal was born on Januin Superior Wisconsin to Mildred and John Kofal. He graduated from Superior Senior High School and went on to earn a degree at UWS. He was born in Superior, WI on August 1, 1948. Doug Sutherland, 73, passed away on Tuesday April 5, 2022.
